Kindy visit

On Thursday, we went to the Belfast Kindy next door to visit them. We got to meet the kindy kids and play with them. For some of us we were going back to our old kindy. It was pretty kool to see some of our old friends and to meet the new teacher Alisa.
It was fun playing some new games and using some new equipment.

Easter

Out Buddy class, Room 18, took us on an egg hunt in the hall. It was a lot of fun.
Later in the day we had a scavenger hunt with the junior syndicate. We had to complete a colour by number to earn our Easter egg. We had to search all over the play ground.
Out baskets were very full of chocolate!
We made bunny ears.
Bunny ears, bunny baskets and chocolate. What a great start to the weekend!

Flag Referendum

On Tuesday 22nd March Belfast School got to vote for their preferred flag, this was run by the Belfast Flyers. You could choose from the original flag or the new proposed flag. This was run like the real referendum with voting slips and voting booths. It was important not to share your vote with anyone because it may affect what the representation of New Zealand looks like and what someone picks is their decision not yours.
The total for the Belfast kid’s voting was … new flag 248 votes; existing flag 193 votes; therefore the children’s choice is the new flag.
We can’t wait to find out which flag the adults in New Zealand voted for!

Discovery

On a Friday afternoon we have Discovery. We learn about how to think, solve problems and try a lot of new things. We get together with the whole syndicate and we get to choose what we do. All of the teacher have a different task we could do. We could do some building, play some musical instruments, make something crafty, have some quiet learning or get into character and dress up.
Here are some pictures from one of our Discovery days.

Wacky Hair Day17.3.16

On Thursday, in week 7 we had a wacky hair day mufti.
We could come to school with wacky hair. Lots of us had different colours in our hair, wore our hair differently and used hair gel.
It was fun to see how everyone had their hair.

It was also St Patricks day so a lot of people dressed up in green, like Miss Truesdale.
