Term 4, week 6

We have had an awesome term so far.

We got to learn about Dinosaurs in week 1.

WE LOVE DINOSAURS!

So this was a fun week for us.

 

We have been learning about Myths and Legends. We retold the Legend "Maui and the Sun". We have also been learning Animal Myths and Legends like "How the Kiwi Lost it's Wings".

As a class trip we got to go to Orana Park to see the animals and hear more legends.

We had a fantastic day!

Term 3, 27.9.13

Term 3

We have had a great term! We have done some really exciting things and learnt some fun new things.

At the start of the term we made a new friend called Harold. We liked Harold so much we did some fun Harold art with bright pastels. 

They are on display in our class. Have a look at a couple below.

We also learnt a lot about flight. We had a fun trip to the Air Force Museum. The planes they had were really cool. We had a lot of fun.

In week 8 we had house colour day. Because we have been learning about flight we got together in our house's and made kites. They flew really well. The sky was very colourful.

 

We learnt about Dr Seuss and read lots of books he wrote in Book Week. As a treat on the last day of term we got to watch a Dr Seuss movie called The Lorax.

On the last day of term we also got to show Miss McCoy some of our tricks on the playground. 

Book Week

Wow, what a fun week we have had at school!

We have created Dr Seuss pictures for our window display. We must have done a fantastic job because we won! Miss McCoy is very proud of us.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we had different teachers come into our class to read us stories. It was exciting having other teachers come in to see us.

We had a book character dress up day on Wednesday which was very cool! We wish we could dress up everyday! On Wednesday we also got to do book character chalk drawings. The concrete outside our class is very colourful. 

As part of book week we also got to go to a book fair in the library, decorate book marks, do book activities and have our grandparents come in to read with us.

We all really enjoyed book week.

WE ALL HAD AN ACCIDENT IN THE PLAYGROUND.....

 

 

 

JUST KIDDING!

 

On Thursday Ben got his cast off. He broke his arm when he was in the playground a few weeks ago. He was very brave! We all tried on his cast to see if it fit. We all thought it was really funny.

 

 

Friday the 7th of June

We have had a great term so far. We have been doing some great art this week, we made fish and frogs using paint, dye and magazines.

Our class has made some great progress in our story writing, we have been revising our work to make our stories more exciting and interesting to read. This week we wrote stories about Queens birthday weekend and all the fun things we have been up to.
We have been learning about different ways we can push and pull in science. This week we used play dough to make characters. We had to push and pull the play dough to make them.

 

 

Next week we have cross country and we have been doing some practises when the weather has been nice. A lot of us have been getting puffed out as we are not used to running so far. We can't wait to run in the cross country!

Friday 5th April

This week we started school on Wednesday because it was Easter. We have done a lot of great learning. We learnt about African stuff. And we made necklaces because they wear them in Africa to show how much money they have. We made the necklaces so we could look like the people in Africa. Come in and see them.
We also learnt about China. They have Dragon boats, Dragon puppets and Dragons which protect the good people in Chine and scare away the bad things. We learnt that China has a great wall and they use chopsticks to eat instead of knifes, forks and spoons. In China they have an emperor which is like a King. We have enjoyed learning about these cultures.

Week 8- Shape Walk

In room 1 we have been very busy.
We have been learning about shapes in maths. We have been learning shape names and how many corners or sides the shapes have.
On Friday last week we went out to find shapes in our playground.
There are shapes everywhere!

We found squares, triangles, semi-circles, cylinders, diamonds, hexagons, spheres and pentagons.
We had a lot of fun on our shape walk.
