Our First Week Of School

We have a had a great first week of school! We have been learning how to read, how to count and we have started writing some stories.

 

On Wednesday we had Zara come to visit because she is starting school with us soon. While she was with us we did Greedy Cat drawings and put green dye over them. They look great!

 On Friday we had a magician called ElGregoe come to visit us. He put on a magic show and taught us about bullying. He was really funny!

Jemma was helping the magician but the little wand didn't work so they had to try a bigger wand.

He then made the box smaller and put a tube through it... where did she go?

He pulled a 10foot pole from a small paper bag. We were amazed. 

 

 

The school pool has had some great use this week. The New Entrants have been in for their first swim. It was a bit cold for some of us but we had a great time.

Last week of school

We have had a fantastic last week together as Room 1!

On Monday we had a bear hunt and teddy bears picnic. Here are some pictures of us with our teddy bears.

We did some fun Christmas Craft and Miss McCoy decorated our room with Christmas things.  

It really felt like Christmas in Room 1.

Lucy and Ben's Mums came in to make Christmas Crackers with us.

It was a lot of fun!

We had to write a note inside for the person we were giving them too and add Christmas jokes.

We decorated the notes with stickers.

We made the crackers with Christmas paper and ribbons. 

We had to be careful not to pull the cracker inside.

We made little Christmas bugs to go in the crackers as well. 

We had to be very careful with the glue gun.

We loved the Christmas Crackers we made. We were very proud of ourselves!

Athletics Day

On Wednesday we had the New Entrant and Junior Athletics day. It was a lot of fun!

We did throwing activities with discus and the vortex. We did jumping activities like high jump and long jump. We also did some races with running and jumping. The sack racing was one of our favourites. There are some future Olympians in Room 1!

Term 4, week 6

We have had an awesome term so far.

We got to learn about Dinosaurs in week 1.

WE LOVE DINOSAURS!

So this was a fun week for us.

 

We have been learning about Myths and Legends. We retold the Legend "Maui and the Sun". We have also been learning Animal Myths and Legends like "How the Kiwi Lost it's Wings".

As a class trip we got to go to Orana Park to see the animals and hear more legends.

We had a fantastic day!

Term 3, 27.9.13

Term 3

We have had a great term! We have done some really exciting things and learnt some fun new things.

At the start of the term we made a new friend called Harold. We liked Harold so much we did some fun Harold art with bright pastels. 

They are on display in our class. Have a look at a couple below.

We also learnt a lot about flight. We had a fun trip to the Air Force Museum. The planes they had were really cool. We had a lot of fun.

In art we made some really colourful rockets.

In week 8 we had house colour day. Because we have been learning about flight we got together in our house's and made kites. They flew really well. The sky was very colourful.

 

We learnt about Dr Seuss and read lots of books he wrote in Book Week. As a treat on the last day of term we got to watch a Dr Seuss movie called The Lorax.

On the last day of term we also got to show Miss McCoy some of our tricks on the playground.
