Buddy Class

We are excited to be buddies with Room 18. We met our buddies on Friday. They made us cards and gave up some wee gifts. Then we read our books to them.
We are looking forward to spending time with them this year.

Swimming

We are loving the warm weather we have been having! It is perfect for us to be getting in the pool.
We have been learning how to safely enter and exit the pool, to float and to blow bubbles.
It has been a lot of fun!

We found a Cicada when we arrived at the pool today. It was camouflaged which means it was hidden so it could not be seen. It was making a lot of noise.

Elgrego

Today Elgrego came to visit us at school. He was a magician who taught us about how we treat one another and bullying. He had some parrots, a rabbit and other birds which he used in his show.
He was amazing! We loved watching him perform.
The main messages were about; respect, acceptance, responsible, courage and integrity.

We also learn hands are for helping, not for hurting.

Here are some pictures from his visit.
Som of our favourite tricks were the floating man, pizza boxes and when he bought out his birds.

Our First Day of School, 2016

Monday was our first day at school.
We had a lot of fun learning some of the new things we will be doing in Room 1 this year.

We learnt how to use the Magnetic Letters, to read in the Library Corner and how to line up with a bubble in our mouths and our hands at our sides.

We were very tired after lunch. We played Sleeping Lions to re-energise. It was a good chance to relax.

Week 7 and 8, Term 4

In week 8 we got our first swim in the swimming pool. We have been loving going in the pool and learning about water safety.

In P.E with Arn we have been learning some hockey skills. We are learning to control the ball with the stick.

The Year 7 students taught us each a new skill. Some of us learn origami, ukulele, computers, drawing, dodgeball and gardening. It was a lot of fun working with the big kids.

We also won the star class for being the best class in assembly. We sat up with out arms and legs folded, faced the front and sat quietly. We get to have the star trophy in our class and have some free play.

Term 4, Week 2

We have had a very busy week at school.
On Monday we hosted the Junior Syndicate Assembly and shared our holiday writing. Miss McCoy was very proud of our hard work and loud, clear voices.

This week we read "Shoo Fly" as our Big Book in Reading. We made chefs hats and came up with things we could make for Miss McCoy to eat. It was a lot of fun.

On Friday it was Red Mufti day for "Radio Lollipop". We also did a colouring in competition and had a best dressed competition.
In Balloon Badminton on Friday we graduated to using a "shuttle cock". We had to practice how to throw it and learnt how it moves. We also got the balloons back out and practiced hitting them back and forward to our buddies.

We also had Miss Harris join us on Friday. She is going to be joining us in Room 1 some days. We are excited to have another teacher in Room 1 with us.
