Beach Education - Term 1, Week 3

In Inquiry we have been learning about water safety and how to be safe in the sun. On Friday we went to the beach to find out how to be safe at the beach.

We need to SLIP on a t-shirt, SLOP on some sunblock, SLAP on a hat and WRAP on some sun glasses.

We had to find people in the picture who were being safe in the sun and some who were not being safe in the sun.

We learnt how to spot a rip and why we need to swim between the flags.

These are the rules we need to remember at the beach...
1. Always swim between the flags
2. Always listen to the advice of the life guards
3. Always have an adult watching you.
4. Never swim alone
5. If in doubt, stay out
6. Learn to recognise a rip

Ashleigh dressed up as a lifeguard and had to pull Jake out of the water as he was drowning. The rest of the New Entrants had to pretend to be the waves.

We went to the beach to play some games. We had to get in groups and make some sand castles.

Then we put on our togs and sun block and we went out in the water. We jumped in the waves and splashed about. It was a lot of fun!
We loved our visit to the beach!
