Worlds Apart Show, week 4, term 3

We have been very lucky this week as we have had 2 shows. Maui and the Sun on Monday and Worlds Apart on Tuesday. The Worlds Apart show was for Book Week and the Storylines Festival 2015.

It was a show comparing a boy living today and a girl living a hundred years ago. The story had 3 books integrated in it. Kakapo Dance, Kauri and Jims Letters.

Edward and his mum living today in 2015.
Molly and her brother, Reg, living 100 years ago in 1915.
When Molly and Edward had their 10th birthdays they found a box which they thought was a present. When they lifted the lid they could see each other.
They couldn't hear each other so they thought they could communicate to each other using "Kakapo Dance" the book.
Some of us got to help Molly and Edward talk by dancing like a bird.

They thought they wanted to dance. We showed off our dance moves.

They then learnt they could communicate through letters.
They realised they lived in the "here and now 100 years apart". Their worlds are very different. They wrote to each other about how things were the same and different. Edward realised the Kauri tree outside their house might have been there 100 years ago. He looked at the "Kauri" book to see if this was possible. The spirit of the Kauri tree appeared and talked to him.

Edward looked at the "Jims letters" book to see what it was like fighting in the war, where Molly's dad had gone. Edward researches Molly's dad Joseph, and how he got on after the war to tell her there was nothing to worry about.

Molly's brother and Edwards mum didn't believe Molly and Edward could see each other. Molly's brother and Edwards mum got rid of the box which helped them see each other. They were really upset they wouldn't see each other again but learnt a lot.
If you believe in good things, good things can happen. Things change but not all change is bad. Celebrate change, believe in it and what will happen.
